SETON HALL
PANHELLENIC
The National Panhellenic Conference was founded in 1902 as a governing council for twenty six national women's sororities. It was created to offer guidance and uniform rules to it's member organizations during a time when Greek life was beginning to grow rapidly. We use the word conference to describe the organization as it doe not enact any legislation itself but instead facilitates unanimous agreements between all members.
Since this conference acts at a national level, every college campus at which it's organizations are present has a Collegiate level council that ensures the unanimous agreements are being carried out. Here at Seton Hall we have the Collegiate Panhellenic Council which is made up of nine sorority women. These women are elected members who choose to go beyond their chapters to make a difference in the Panhellenic community. As a whole they are responsible for all of Seton Hall Panhellenic's by-laws and governing documents, marketing the member organizations, holding recruitment events and formal recruitment, ensuring all organizations are acting within the standards set in the NPC Manual of Information, and strengthening the bond of sisterhood between organizations.
